Are you a SEND specialist who would like to apply their knowledge within an educational environment? If so, Team Educate would love to hear from you!

Team Educate are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to work with students in schools across Birmingham and the surrounding areas. We would equally love to hear from you if you are a recent graduate in a related field (Psychology, Education Studies, Sociology) and are looking for a challenging and extremely rewarding new role in Learning Support.

The Learning Support role will involve working closely with young learners in a range of school settings to provide support for children with SEND, employing strategies and experience to enhance their education and school experience. You may be required to work with specific pupils and support them in their lessons, or you may be working 1-to-1 with pupils who follow alternative provision for tailored support. The ability to communicate ‘on the same level’ as the young learners you’ll work with and being able to build rapport with young people quickly and easily will be vital in this position. Experience of working with children with special educational needs will be advantageous.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will:

  • Work 1-to-1 with pupils, following guidance and Individual Development Plans to support pupils with specific needs
  • Provide guidance and support to individuals in a mentoring relationship
  • Help pupils set and achieve personal and academic goals
  • Share knowledge and expertise in a specific field or area of interest
  • Assist pupils in developing new skills and overcoming challenges

Learning Support Assistants will need:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Active listening skills to understand individual pupils’ needs and concerns
  • Empathy and the ability to relate to individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with pupils
  • Experience of working with children with additional learning needs (SEND)
  • Registration with the DBS Update Service or willingness to process one with Team Educate

Learning Support Assistants working with Team Educate will benefit from:

  • Support, advice and guidance from experienced teaching professionals
  • A competitive daily pay rate
  • A highly rewarding and fulfilling role, supporting pupils who will really benefit from your support and guidance
  • Building a strong network of education professionals across schools in Birmingham
  • Opportunities to secure longer-term employment if desired

As a 1-to-1 Learning Support Assistant, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others by sharing your knowledge, experience, and support. This role requires strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to build meaningful relationships. If you are passionate about helping others succeed and thrive, we would love for you to join Team Educate in their mission to support schools and learners in the area.
