Team Educate is seeking dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistants with SEN experience. Specifically, we are looking for Teaching Assistants with experience of working with various Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in young people, as well as those with experience in working alongside Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

The school is offering a full-time, ongoing position for the perfect candidate, who will benefit from the support of an experienced and supportive team, who all work to the best interests of their pupils and staff at all times. What does a Teaching Assistant do?

  • Providing support in and out of lessons for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Assisting pupils with class work and utilising strategies to engage them in their learning
  • Assisting pupils in developing their holistic wellbeing, by facilitating social interactions, supporting group activities and building effective communication skills
  • Communicating effectively with class teachers and other support staff to provide bespoke support to each pupil
  • Building a strong rapport with young people to foster effective working relationships to facilitate academic and social development

What does a Teaching Assistant need?

  • A background in working with young people, either in mainstream, a special school setting, or in residential/care settings
  • Experience of supporting pupils with SEMH needs and EBD
  • The ability to build a strong rapport quickly with young people and maintain productive relationships with pupils
  • A pro-active attitude and the ability to judge situations effectively, responding appropriately to different needs
  • A strong personality to help engage young people in their learning
